Hi everyone and a heartly g’day from the center of Australia!
After some more days in Melbourne and browsing through the pubs of this magnificent city, I’ve finally landed in the heart of Australia, namely Alice Springs (which is still 500km away from Uluru, but so what -.-). And to be true: this town is actually really small to be such a magnet for tourists. But on the other side: with 33 degrees outside and sunny weather, why not just relax a bit? *g* … ok, that was some part of what I did here, but since my trip to all those famous stones everyone associates with Australia will start on Monday, I took the remaining time to look a bit around here.
And since all the distances are quite big, I’ve been renting a bike for the last two days and tried to not get that exhausted in the sun (ok, I only partly succeeded -.-). But there are some really nice places around here, and the way how communication has been done in central Australia is also really nice to see …
Apart from that, there is nothing new on my side, except that this trip is slowly starting to finish (which gives me some good and some bad feelings, but I think that’s always the case -.-) and I’m really looking forward to see all of you again.
So cya in a few days/weeks
take care

Hi there again
Well, after a few more kilometers on the road along one of the most magnificent coastlines I’ve ever seen, I’m once again back in Melbourne. This time, the weather is really playing a perfect part and the city is just perfect to relax and stroll through the parks at sunny 27 degrees -.- … Ok, Melbourne hasn’t that much to offer for tourists compared to Sydney, but maybe exactly due to that it’s so much nicer to walk through the inner city and along all those charming cafes and pubs.
Besides of this cosy relaxing time here in Melbourne not that much is really worth telling here, unless maybe you’re interested in all those large shopping miles, those weekday markets with all the cheap products you can think of and all the nice people you meet on the streets which even offer you easter eggs on Easter Sunday (without even knowing you … that was really one of those times where you wish that the whole world would be like that -.-).
Well, I think that’s it for right now … in two days I’ll be off to the vast center of this country, and then the whole 6 weeks will nearly have gone in an instant. So see you all quite soon then
take care

Hi everyone,
Well, I know, I promised new photos when I reached Melbourne, but talk about bad luck and incompatibilities of computers and strange harddrives
… but I’m trying my best
.
So what’s new? Well, I finally made it to Melbourne (at least for the first time), and I have to admit, that even the small and quick insight I got yesterday somehow made this city look even nicer than Sydney … not because of the landmarks and sightseeing possibilities, but more because of the people and the charme of all the buildings. It looks more like a european city and just makes you feel being at home from the very first moment.
But this was just a quick look at this huge city, and since I’ll leave it once again to look at the magnificent landscape along the great ocean road, I have to postpone the real discovery of Melbourne to a later point. Well, I think that’s all, besides of the rain that aparrently just wanted to show me that autumn is starting around here … and even caused some floodings north of Sydney. But what do you expect, when the first rain in months hits a very dry earth. At least you now don’t have to envy me anymore about the weather, since it’s practically the same for me and you *g*.
So enjoy springtime as much as you can, and take care everyone
so long
Tom
edit: ha, finally, some new photos *g*

Hi everyone!
Well, finally another sign of life from me
But it’s quite hard to find some decent time off to write something in here while travelling down the coast.
So, what happened since the last entry? I went on to explore Sydney for a few more days, especially once again the really stunning harbour site. And after that, I started to make my way down the coast towards Melbourne. At that point, you really start to realize how big this country really is: travelling for more than one hour without seeing any houses or farms or anything … and this is still the coastline! But still, it’s a phantastic landscape to explore. My first stop was in the Blue Mountains (so called because of all the kind of blue eucaliptus trees growing here), and that was kind of a complete “shock” after being in Sydney: loads of hiking paths, beautiful cliffs and everything! After that one day trip to the west, I started the journey down the coast along the princes highway, following the coastline straight down.
And now, after 1500km of driving on the “wrong” side, I’m just 300km before Melbourne and with so many impressions in my mind, that I just don’t know what to write here: there had been so many gorgeous cliff-walks, meeting kangaroos on the beach, getting to know loads of really nice people with all their stories to tell and everything … Well, I definitely have to tell you that directly, because it’s kind of waaaay too much to write here *g*.
Oh, and I’m sorry for not uploading more pictures right now, but that has to be postponed until I’m in Melbourne, since all the internet cafes or terminals I met on my way up to now had no propper possibility to convert RAW-files to nice photos
So I hope you all enjoy the start of spring right now and keep up the good mood.
take care

Hi there,
It’s been a long time since the last entry here, I know. But things haven’t been that new and extraordinary in the last few months … at least not till last week, where a 23 hour flight took me to the buzzing center of down under, namely Sydnety !!
And I really have to say, it’s a gorgeous city, with so many things to see and do, that you sometimes just feel overwhelmed by it. Well, but it is a really cool atmosphere down here, with so many different views and such a big culture clash, that you simply feel home right from the start.
So what have I done the last few days? Except of trying to get my body to accept 25 degrees celsius temperature difference,
I’ve strolled through the city untill my feet simply thought they wanted a rest. But since there is so much to see from the ferries departing right between harbour bridge and opera house, that wasn’t that big of a problem. The next few days will continue like that, and I’ll head to Bondi Beach in a few minutes … and then, the journey down the coast to Melbourne starts! But that’s something for the next entry
So enjoy the start of spring everyone, and see you all soon !
take care
Tom
